James L. Ryan, 69, of Toledo, IL passed away at 9:04 pm on March 29, 2013 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday April 3, 2013 at the Jewett Community Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the church. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family. Burial will be in the Tippett Cemetery rural Toledo.

Jim was born on October 27, 1943 in Joliet, IL. His parents are Owen D. and Sarah Aleen (Coleman) Ryan. He married Kaye Parrett on June 3, 1966. He is survived by his loving wife, son Jeff wife Kristi Ryan of Lerna; birth sister Darlene husband Mel Goodman of Land O Lakes Florida; grandchildren Rachel husband Matt Shepard, Joey Haas and Kourtney Haas fiancé Josh Rich; great ­ grandchildren Kaelynn Powers and Cameron Brown; also surviving are two special nieces Cyndi husband Mark Walker of Maroa, IL and Gynni husband Dave Burnett of Land O Lakes Florida; and a special dog Pokie. Jim had a special relationship with the Intensive English Language Classes at Lake Land College. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim worked at Borg-Warner in Decatur, IL and retired from Mitsubishi in Bloomington, IL. Jim served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was very involved in his community; he was a member and past president of the Toledo Kiwanis, the Illinois unit of the Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club. Member of the Greenup Historical Society, The Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge in Findlay. Jim was a Master Gardener and always found time to volunteer at Lincoln Log Cabin and many local fund raising events like Jeepin For A Cure. Jim loved his family, jeepin, camping and cooking. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him.
