It was a small rally but those who braved the heat certainly didn’t regret it.  Conrad got to try out his new and more manageable Airstream B-van.  Bill & Wanda’s truck barely got up to operating temperature driving the eight miles to the campground while Doug & Maggie and Laird & Nancy get the prize for the furthest drive by coming down from Bloomington-Normal.  The campground gave everyone free sweet corn, donuts and coffee and were wonderful hosts.  Thanks to everyone for such a nice weekend.

Rally Schedule 

July 16-18, 2010

Whittington Woods Campground near Rend Lake in Benton, IL is a beautiful campground with great facilities for a rally including a covered pavilion and group fire pit. There’s a nice playground for the kids and a pool to cool off in the hot weather.

Reservations need to be made with the campground by using the following link http://www.whittingtonwoodscampground.com/reservations.php, or by calling the campground at (618) 435-3401. Be sure to mention that you’re part of the Airstream rally to get the group rate of $26.50 per night for full-hookups.

This will be a very laid-back, casual rally with not much of a schedule.

• Friday morning complimentary coffee in the pavilion.
• Friday evening hot dog roast. I’ll provide hot dogs, buns and condiments. Others can bring light sides, chips, etc.
• Saturday morning pancake breakfast hosted by Maggie Hayes. Bring your table service and a dish to pass. Complimentary coffee and donuts in the pavilion.
• Saturday open house trailer tours from noon to 2:00 (optional). For those of you who always wanted to see the inside of a classic motorhome or 34 foot triple axle trailer, this is your chance.
• Saturday evening potluck.
• Sunday morning complimentary coffee in the pavilion.
• Evening campfires. Whittington Woods has a fantastic group campfire that is a perfect gathering point. You can expect it to be burning nearly all weekend.
